In 1986, when “The Most Excellent Way” was experiencing its beginnings as a ministry to the chemically dependent, we providentially read “Love, Acceptance & Forgiveness” by Jerry Cook. Implementing the principles of love, acceptance and forgiveness produced much fruit in our personal lives, and in the ministry.

“When love, acceptance and forgiveness prevail, the Church

of Jesus Christ becomes what Jesus was in the world: a center

of love designed for the healing of broken people and a force

for God.” ~ Pastor Jerry Cook

Jesus said to him,

"'You shall love the LORD your God

with all your heart, with all your soul,

and with all your mind.'

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like it:

'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

On these two commandments hang

all the Law and the Prophets."

"The Most Excellent Way" is not just another Christianized 12-step

"recovery" program. Our calling is to live, demonstrate and teach

Biblical principles with eternal consequences. We pray that these

excerpts from Pastor Cook's book will encourage those of you who labor in ministering to the chemically dependent. ~ Glenn Wright
